To start off this feature I thought I'd choose one of my favourite images "Steve's Glastonbury Bubble".

Note this image when printed at A3 has excellent clarity and detail.

This image was taken on the 23rd June 07 at 20:53. This was the Saturday night in front of the main stage. Becky and I had sat down about three quarters of the way back through the crowd. I was sat there enjoying the bands and the playful atmosphere with my camera resting on my lap.

The subject of luck is a great one to debate, especially at 9pm on a Saturday at Glastonbury. I had my 70-200mm lens attached to my Canon 30D. Great for picking out people in the crowd and brining the stage within range.

A few bubbles floated past through the crowd. As luck would have it a bubble landed about 2 metres in front of me. Lucky? I didn't have to move from my comfortable (ish) seat to get the shot, and if I'd of had a more appropriate lens on, for a close up, the bubble would of burst before I'd of moved from my position.

I love this quote from Ken Rockwell:

"Luck is opportunity met with preparation. A great photograph is luck, opportunity is once-in-a-lifetime natural occurrences, and preparation is being there with the right gear and knowing what to do about it".

I think this quote works through out life, especially as a similar variation "The harder I work, the luckier I get".

The reason for the name 'Steve's Glastonbury Bubble' wasn't because I took the image. The guy sat next to us had struck up a conversation before the image was taken. He was also called Steve and can clearly be seen in the surface of the bubble (just left of centre with the hat). Hence "Steve's" refers to the two Steve's in the reflection of the bubble.
